⚠️ Important Note About Joule Creep
Airsoft physics aren’t always linear, and real-world chrono readings can differ from calculated values due to a phenomenon known as “Joule creep.”
Heavier BBs remain in the barrel fractionally longer, allowing extra pressure to build behind them, which often results in higher actual Joules than simple physics predicts.
That’s why the numbers below should be treated as a theoretical guide, not a definitive reading.
Real-world performance depends on:
- Barrel length, bore, and volume ratio
- Cylinder and piston efficiency
- Hop-up resistance and air seal quality
- Gas expansion or AEG air delivery
- Temperature and BB weight consistency

⚠️ What is Joule Creep in airsoft?
Joule creep happens when heavier BBs stay in the barrel longer, letting more pressure build and producing higher energy than lighter BBs. It’s why players should always chrono with the BB weight they’ll use in-game.
